EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL HISTORY:

Rick was raised and educated in Victoria prior to attending the University of British Columbia (U.B.C.) Law School in Vancouver. He graduated from U.B.C. Law School receiving his LL.B. in 1974 and articled with Crease & Company and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1975. He then practiced as an associate at Crease & Company and was made a partner in 1977. He has practiced his entire legal career at Crease & Company and its successor firm Crease Harman & Company and is now a senior partner in the firm.

AREAS OF PRACTICE:

Rick’s practice consists solely of solicitor work in the following areas:

• Wills, Estates, Tax Planning and Wealth Preservation
• Succession, Trusts and Fiduciary Relationships
• Business Law and Corporate Law
• Real Estate and Mortgages

PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Rick is active in both professional associations and community activities including the following:

• Member, Victoria Wills and Trusts Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association
• Member, Victoria Estate Planning Council
• Member, Canadian Bar Association
• Member, Apartment Owners’ and Property Managers’ Association of Vancouver Island
• Legal advisor to charitable foundations
• Speaker to various societies, groups and community organizations on the law in his areas of practice

As well, Rick has held the following positions:

• Former President, Victoria Wills and Trusts Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association
• Former President, Victoria Estate Planning Council
• Former President, Victoria Symphony Foundation
• Former Director, Victoria Bar Executive
• Former Director, B.C. Schizophrenia Society, Victoria Branch

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Rick enjoys golf and is a member of the Victoria Golf Club and the Galiano Golf and Country Club. As well, he enjoys travel and is a frequent visitor to various areas of France.
