Professional Associations and Activities:
Bruce is the past President of the Victoria Bar Association, is
Chairman of the Wills and Trusts Subsection and has been a treasurer
of the Administrative Law Subsection. He has been elected to the
executive of the National Wills and Trust Section of the Candian
Bar Association. He is an editor of the Canadian Bar Association's
dial-a-law programme on Mortgages and Foreclosures. Bruce has also
represented British Columbia at the National Wills and Trusts Meeting.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Mr. Hallsor was a Research Director,
Legislative Analyst, and a Ministerial Assistant in the Legislative
Assembly of British Columbia.
Community Activities:
Bruce Hallsor has been appointed by the Provincial Government to
serve on the Provincial Child Care Council, and the City of Victoria
Board of Variance. He has been appointed Saanich Council to serve
on the Saanich Arts Advisory Committee. He is also Chairman of the
Victoria Branch of the Monarchist League of Canada, and until the
end of this year is the National Vice-President of Fair Vote Canada,
a non-partisan association that looks into electoral issues. Bruce
Hallsor is a former member of the B.C. Chief Electoral Officer's
Advisory Committee, and he has a long history of political involvement
including standing for election to Parliament in the 2000 federal
election. Bruce is also on the Board of Workstreams, a non-profit
society that trains chronically unemployed people and assists them
with job placement. Bruce has also been a cub leader, chair of two
strata corporations, and a director of a summer camp for underprivileged
youth.
