Crease Harman

Crease Harman LLP traces its roots to 1858 when Henry Crease became the first barrister qualified to practice as a Barrister of Her Majesty's Court of Civil Justice for Vancouver Island. The present partnership extends back to 1879, making it the oldest law firm in British Columbia. Since its establishment, the firm has played a remarkable role in the evolution of law in British Columbia and Canada. Based on its long and distinguished tradition of providing insightful and valuable legal advice, the firm continues to offer outstanding legal services to a diverse and expanding client base.

As is unique to a law firm generations old, the range of practice experience among our lawyers varies from one year to more than forty. Such variation permits the dynamics of the firm to be vital with youth and wise with experience. We are very proud of our lawyers and the powerful and effective interplay created by their divergent background, interests and experience. Our lawyers stay current with the fast changing legal environment by attending and contributing to educational seminars and conferences. All the lawyers participate fully in the community by donating time and energy to many local charitable, political and sporting organizations.

We believe that no lawyer can be an expert in all aspects of the law. We approach the specific legal problems of our clients by assigning each matter to the most qualified lawyer with the goal of attaining the greatest results in the most cost effective manner.

Throughout our history, the firm has endeavored to provide first class business facilities for our clients. Today, while maintaining the tradition of caring for a unique and historic legal library, we have fully embraced the use of the most up to date technology to better serve our clients. All of our lawyers and support staff have desktop access to office based intranet information, such as files, firm precedents, records, and digital legal material and to internet information, such as registry searches or case law research. We do not hesitate to use the best and latest technology in all aspect of our practice to insure our clients are provided with the most efficient, cost effective and comprehensive legal services.

The firm is comprised of 14 lawyers, 9 partners and 4 associates, as well as an articling student. In addition, the firm employs 14 additional support staff including paralegals.

At Crease Harman LLP we are proud of our heritage, embrace the future and continue to focus on our primary goal - providing practical legal solutions to our clients in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
